SUMMARY:LITTLE STINT | In The Moment 7.1
DESCRIPTION:  \n“In the Moment 7.1” is an avant-garde performance art piece that merges the worlds of cinema and live music composition. The essence of the show lies in the spontaneity and creativity of the composers involved\, resulting in a one-of-a-kind aural experience for the audience. \nSeven talented composers are tasked with live scoring seven random films selected on the spot. The films will be chosen by the composers themselves\, by drawing chits from a bowl. The titles in the bowl vary in length\, genre and style; each presenting its own cinemascape. Each composer will then have the challenge and opportunity to create an original score in real-time\, responding to the visual narrative unfolding before them. Throughout the performance\, the composers may also interact with the audience and/or the other composers\, exchanging ideas/motifs\, improvising together\, or even seamlessly transitioning between compositions as the films progress. \n“In the Moment 7.1” offers a fresh perspective on the art of film scoring\, pushing the boundaries of experimental improvisation. Through its unique format and collaborative spirit\, the show celebrates the magic of live performance and the endless possibilities of artistic expression.

SUMMARY:LITTLE STINT | Elephant in the Room
DESCRIPTION:Conceived and performed by Yuki Ellias\, Elephant in the Room is a theatrical homage to Ganesh\, among the most popular and revered deities in the Hindu pantheon. Known across the land–whether as Ganapati\, Vinayaka\, Pillaiyar or another name—the mythology and lore around Ganesh is ubiquitous. Over 60 minutes Ellias offers her interpretation of the fabled boy who was given the head of an animal to which his body did not belong. How does this boy\, confused and bewildered in the forest\, perceive the dangers that lurk at every turn? How does he deal with the way others see him? Will he find his place in the forest or be consumed by that eternal mass of the living? This quirky tale draws inspiration from Hindu mythology and takes us along on a young boy’s adventure of a lifetime. \nYuki Ellias is a performer\, director and corporate coach. She has travelled\, trained and performed extensively in India and several other parts of the world. Her most recent creations are Dying to Succeed\, a solo comedy show; Yatagarasu\, coming-of-age stories told through dance; and\, of course\, Elephant in the Room.

SUMMARY:LITTLE STINT | Rihla (رحلة / रिहृला)
DESCRIPTION:The work is an adaptation of Andreas Flourakis’ award-winning play I Want A Country. The story goes a little something like this…crisis in a nameless nation sparks the demand for change. Not finding that change\, a group of young citizens seek to chart a course for a ‘new country’\, a new identity\, fresh values\, somewhere they feel safe…Rihla is their rihla. The literal journey on which they argue and fight; mock and educate; reveal their dreams\, fears and secrets. On their voyage to this new place\, a place where they have no antecedents\, they define a quest for a new world; to a place they can only imagine. A place where each of their expressions of belonging find space to exist. \nAagaaz are a community of educators and arts practitioners\, committed to examining and questioning ‘what is’\, to inquire ‘what could be’. They practice theatre and arts for social action to bridge gaps in learning\, understanding the ‘other’\, access\, and dignity. The repertory members have all come out of Aagaaz’s first phase of community work in Nizamuddin. They co-produce\, with playwrights and directors in New Delhi\, works that allow larger audiences to engage with the questions that they and many others have to face on a daily basis and to include those audiences in the search for answers.

SUMMARY:LITTLE STINT | Zig Zags to Earth
DESCRIPTION:“Zig Zags to Earth” is a shadow puppet play that blends traditional shadow puppetry with the innovative use of an overhead projector.  The play revolves around the water cycle and includes material play with water. The combination of these storytelling techniques and elements not only results in striking visuals\, but also transforms the performance into a rich sensory experience. \nZig\, the protagonist of the play\, is a being from another planet. Zig’s view of all earthly beings as belonging to the same bucket urges us to question an anthropocentric view of the world and suggests instead a kinship between us all. From their point of view the audience is asked to engage with water from a fresh perspective; one that allows engagement between the mundane and the extraordinary. \nZig Zags to Earth was created with the support of Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan and the Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust. It premiered at the Katkatha Puppet Fringe Festival at Max Mueller Bhavan.

SUMMARY:LITTLE STINT | Maati Katha
DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in the rich\, diverse and fragile ecosystem of the Sunderbans with this exceptional piece of object and material theatre. Maati Katha\, as the name says\, takes on the tradition of telling stories of the earth\, using objects made from the earth. In the Sunderbans\, by whose art\, lifestyle\, philosophies and peoples this play is inspired\, life is a delicate balance; between human and human\, human and animal\, land and water\, calm and storm. As folklore goes\, Bonbibi\, the lady of the forest and guardian spirit of the world’s largest mangrove ecosystem\, promised cohabitation for all life. But only as long as they played by the rules. When Bonbibi turned her back on the Sunderbans\, devastation followed. In this piece performers Mohammad Shameem & Choiti Ghosh weave multiple narratives cutting across class\, caste\, religion and gender. \nFor an urban audience in the nation’s capital these narratives tell a reflective tale. They lead us to the question\, “what have we done with the earth?”. As the impact of human-induced climate change is felt by peoples across the Global South\, tales from the Sunderbans allow us the space to question who belongs to whom and where we will go when we force our guardian spirits to turn their backs on us. Maati Katha is a piece for our times with relevance across age and class\, dark and light\, material and spiritual. \nDuration: 65 Mins\nLanguage: Hindi (with a Bangla Song)\nAge: 12 years and above \nRegular Tickets at INR 700 \nYour support goes a long way in enabling artistic endeavours. 100% of the proceeds are directed to the artist.
