About the Workshop:
Learn the fundamentals of Sound and Synthesis with VCV Rack.
In this workshop, you will learn:
– What is sound?
– The basic characteristics of sound
– How a synthesizer works
– The 3 fundamental steps to sound synthesis
– How to build your custom drone Synth in VCV Rack
– The fundamentals of modular synthesis
The workshop takes you to the building blocks of sound synthesis. These fundamentals can be applied to most software and hardware synths in the market.
What is VCV Rack?
VCV Rack is a free software that emulates the environment of a modular synthesizer.
Who is the workshop for?
Anyone who is interested in sound. You don’t need any experience working with sound or any audio production tools.
About the instructor:
Vaibhav Batra is a sound artist and educator who has been teaching modular synthesis since 2021. It is a month-long in-person course in collaboration with HAMT, a boutique music production academy in the hills of Mcleodganj (Dharamshala).
A proponent of free-improv, deep listening, and the idea of “play” as a creative expression, Vaibhav performs live using modular synthesizers and field recordings under his stage name Psychopanda.
