Becoming Hero
By Akanksha Kumari & Jasmine Yadav
Becoming Hero is a piece in contemporary dance that investigates what lies beneath the façade of power and seduction of the illustrious film hero? Dancers Akanksha and Jasmine break up movements and actions from bollywood choreography and gym culture to unravel the traditional archetype. With every thrust and leap, they blur the boundaries between might and fragility, sculpting a fresh vision of the hero; because in this world of shifting paradigms, perhaps there’s more to being a hero than we’ve ever known.
