The title, echoing the pseudonym Khan used for his poetry, speaks to his profound artistry. As a direct descendant of the legendary Miyan Tansen’s 16th generation lineage, Ustad Khan’s passion saw him compose, teach, and perform across India, leaving an indelible legacy till his final days at age 107 in 2016. The film, directed with sensitivity by Niharika, navigates the vibrant Awadhi culture that molded Ustad Khan. It spotlights the nuanced shifts in Indian art post the decline of riyasats and highlights the timeless guru-shishya tradition that Khan ardently upheld.
