Immerse yourself in the rich tradition of “Soz Khwani”, an art form anchored in the tales of the adversities faced by Imam Hussain and his family in Karbala. This ceremonial lamentation, expressed through poignant verses and melodies, resonates with deep reverence across generations. Yusra’s initiation into this art began amidst the majlis gatherings of Mustafabad.
From her earliest memories to the nuances she discovered later, Yusra’s musical journey was nurtured by her elders. Her father’s unique approach, linking a salaam to a recognizable raag, played a pivotal role in her development. With time, she refined her craft to articulate the nuanced emotions and narratives inherent in Soz Khwani. Despite a young age, the emotions she embodies have been honed through years of Moharram performances in her cherished qasba.
